When one part of the competition is moving, others are also finding a way to get into the lead. As Nintendo is planning to have the new Wii, Sony is also planning of bringing out the PS4 sometime in 2012. Although Kazuo Hirai, Representative CEO and Executive Deputy President of Sony states otherwise, there are many hopefuls that would want to experience another next-gen gaming. Reuters

Sony's next home console and the successor to the PlayStation 3 - the PlayStation 4 - may pack chips based on AMD's A8-3850 APU and Radeon HD 7670 GPU, according to a report by IGN who claims to have received the information from unnamed sources.

The A8-3850 features a quad-core 2.9GHz processor with an integrated APU graphics chip. The Radeon HD 7670, which is the system's dedicated GPU chip, is a DirectX 11-enabled card clocked at 1GHz with up to 1GB VRAM. The A8-3850 processor makes the APU capable of running games at lower resolutions without the help of a separate GPU.

Furthermore, the GPU 7670 is a tweaked version of the HD 6670, which according to rumor will be used in Microsoft's next game console, the Xbox 720. The HD 6670 is low-end processor priced at about $74.99. The processor supports HDMI 1.4a output.

Sony's next PlayStaion (said to be named Orbis) will be released somewhere in 2013, according to a report, which also suggests the console will pack an AMDx 64 CPU and AMD Southern Island GPU. The GPU which Sony's next game console could feature will be capable of displaying games at a resolution of 4096x2160. Moreover, the PS4 will be capable of playing 3D games in 1080p whereas the PlayStation 3 can play 3D at 720p.

Report further suggest some developers have been receiving development kits for the new game console from the beginning of the year. Orbis will have a similar technology like Xbox 720 called as anti-used games. The new games will be either available on Blu-Ray disc or as a PSN download.
