One Direction fans sent death threats to Premier League football player Gabriel Agbonlahor after the England international injured Louis Tomlinson in a charity match on Sunday (September 8).

Tomlinson, who had the number 1D on the back of his shirt, limped off the pitch and vomited after Agbonlahor's tackle.

The Aston Villa striker said he will apologise to Tomlinson but that did not stop some 'Directioners' posting abusive messages to Agbonlahor on the social media website, Twitter.

One message from @Omg_Its_Ella read: "@gabby10 This guy hurt Louis knee. I shall hurt your face. I better hear that you apologized or I will find you, and I will kill you."

Another message from @zaynoreos_ simply said: "@gabby10 i will chop your balls off."

There were also many messages wishing Tomlinson luck and a speedy recovery.

"Everyone #preyforlouis @Louis_Tomlinson he got hurt playing soccer today :( please prey that he will get better soon," said @_valerie_1D.

Earlier in the summer, Tomlinson signed for his local club Doncaster Rovers on a non-contract basis to play reserve games after impressing in another charity match.
