Fifty-eight firefighters are tackling a blaze at a waste recycling plant in east London.

London Fire Brigade said around 100 tonnes of household waste is currently on fire at the plant in Creek Way, Rainham – the equivalent to the weight of 40 rhinoceros.

The brigade was called to the blaze at 9.27am this morning.

No-one is believed to be injured.

The cause of the fire is not known at this stage.
