Chris Gayle has had a poor IPL 2016 so far, but showed signs of coming back to form after he smashed 49 runs from 31 balls against Kolkata Knight Riders in an innings laden with four massive sixes. The "universe boss" though was again overshadowed by a Kohli-AB special partnership, which led to him calling the duo "Batman and Superman".

The Bangalore outfit, who have won back-to-back games now, have depended on the contributions of Kohli and AB De Villiers time and again. What is impressive is they have delivered adding more than 800 runs in the IPL as a pair so far; no other pair has scored even 700 runs in any T20 tournament.

"It's like Batman and Superman. They are in the form of their life. They are doing a phenomenal job for their team. It's just fantastic. They were batting in a pressure situation as well. Kohli leading from the front is even more fantastic. It's been a great team performance so far and those guys have played their part in all 12 games", said Gayle, as quoted by Cricbuzz.

Skipper Kohli has led from the front, scoring 752 runs in 12 games, his unbeaten knock of 75 against Kolkata, taking him past Gayle's tally of 733 runs as the most scored in a single season of the Indian Premier League.

"I must congratulate him on achieving this. Two more games and maybe he can get to 900 runs, if we qualify for the playoffs, 1000 as well, who knows. It's always about determination. He is a person who is never satisfied. He always wants to get better which is good.

"It always isn't about power hitting. It's about the right shot selection and he's very fit as well. He throws himself around the field. He's a complete cricketer."

The Royal Challengers Bangalore team are currently in fifth place in the points table with six wins from 12 games. They will need to win their remaining two fixtures to ensure that they book a spot in the play-off stage. The duo will next be seen in action on 18 May when they take on Kings XI Punjab at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bangalore.
