Outlander
Sam Heughan as Jamie in Outlander series Starz

Outlander star Sam Heughan has not given up on Game of Thrones as yet. The actor who failed to land a part on the popular HBO series after auditioning several times, is now hoping for an Outlander and Game of Thrones crossover.

During his recent interview with E! Online, Heughan seemed very intrigued by the idea that Game of Thrones author George RR Martin and Outlander author Diana Gabaldon are already meeting up regularly.

"I believe [George and Diana] sit down regularly and have lunches," Sam told E! Online. "There could be like, this Outlander/Game of Thrones crossover. Maybe Diana could put some dragons somewhere into Outlander...Yeah, spinoff series!"

Not a bad idea. The makers of both shows can join forces and put together a cool spin-off series featuring King Joffrey and Black Jack Randall as the lead characters, maybe?

For his part, Heughan seems to have no hard feelings about not getting a part on Game of Thrones.

"That was just one of many, many [roles] I never got," the Scottish actor admitted. "I guess that's the life of a jobbing actor. You have periods where you don't get anything, and then you have periods where it's very busy."

"I love that show so much. It's really good," he said of the HBO hit. "They've got an amazing ensemble. I've met some of the actors and I'm such a fanboy. I absolutely love it."

Outlander and Game of Thrones season 5 will return on 4 April and 12 April, respectively.
