Adrienne Bailon has defended herself over her comments about Rob Kardashian!

Bailon responded to the Rob Kardashian backlash after she criticised her ex-boyfriend and his family's reality show, Keeping Up With The Kardashians, in Latina magazine.

She insisted she never wanted to be famous for being "someone's girlfriend".

The former Cheetah Girls star caused a stir this week, after claiming dating Rob Kardashian hurt her career. She was slammed by Rob's sisters, Kim and Khloe.

Taking to Instagram yesterday Bailon wrote: "Fame and a career are two different things. I've always had a career. I've been working hard since I was 15 years old. Being someone's 'girlfriend' was never what I wanted to be famous for."

In a direct comment to Kim, she added: "What makes you 'famous' isn't always what you want to be 'labelled' as, or known for. If anyone should understand that... It should be you."

The 30 year-old singer also defended her comments regarding her Rob, whom she dated from 2007 to 2009, insisting she didn't regret their relationship.

She added: "I also stated in the article that none of this would have stopped me from being in that relationship. I just would have gone about it differently. You can love someone just as much in private. We all learn from our first loves."

She posted on Instagram with the caption "#GodBless".

Following the publication of Bailon's interview in Latina, Kim blasted her for "kicking her brother when he is down".

Kim Kardashian also tweeted: "Funny how she says being with a Kardashian hurt her career yet the only reason she has this article is bc she is talking about a Kardashian (sic)".

Her sister Khloe Kardashian also joined in later tweeting: "thought her and I were cool SMH (sic)".

Rob later responded to Adrienne's comments by retweeting Khloe's tweet.
