Manchester United manager, Alex Ferguson will be looking to Hamsik from Napoli as Inter's Wesley Sneijder deal falls through

Ferguson was keen to bring in a centre midfielder in the summer, with Wesley Sneijder top of his list, however a deal couldn't be settled upon for the Internazionale player.

Second choice Slovakian, Marek Hamsik could move to united from Italian Serie A side, Napoli in the January transfer window, following talks between the two clubs.

The attacking midfielder has made 145 appearances for the Napoli scoring 48 goals, he has also run out for his national team, Slovakia 49 times scoring 8 goals.

Ferguson is said to be approaching a deal with Napoli for a £30million move for the 24-year-old playmaker after several reports in the past of a potential deal.

Hamsik signed for newly-promoted Napoli in 2007 when the club announced a five year contract had been agreed to bring the player to the club from Brescia in a €5.5million deal. Hamsik scored one and created another on his debut against Cesena in the Italian club.
