The Cortez is now under the rule of Iris and Liz Taylor but they are concerned about the ghosts killing all their guests. A promo shows Iris complaining: "The spirit keeps killing the guests. We are going to end up with zero stars." The video ends with James March yelling: "The killing must stop."

According to an E!online report, the season 5 finale will be emotional and will give fans a fair idea about where all the notable characters end up.

Sarah Paulson's character from season 1 will return in the finale episode. In AHS season 1, Paulson played the role of psychic Billie Dean Howard, a confidante of Jessica Lange's Constance. According to an Entertainment Weekly report: "In the finale, we'll learn that Billie Dean has her own reality series focusing on her psychic abilities and comes to the Cortez thinking it would be prime setting for an episode."

Paulson will be seen playing two different roles — Sally and Billie Dean — in the finale episode.

Lady Gaga recently won the Golden Globes for Best Actress in a Limited Series category for playing the Countess in AHS Hotel. Creator Ryan Murphy was thrilled for Gaga and told E!Online: "I was just so thrilled for [Gaga]. Because I think it's something she's wanted since she was a child, to be an actor. When I first spoke to her she said, 'I wanted to be an actor before a musician, but I always tanked my auditions because I was too nervous.' I said, 'OK, I won't make you audition, I just want you to do my show'."
