Android 5.1.1 Lollipop
Android 5.1.1 OTA rollout for Nexus 9 officially confirmed IBTimes UK

Nexus 9 users can now rejoice as Google has finally announced the rollout of the long-awaited Android 5.1.1 over-the-air (OTA) update for the 9in tablet. The new Lollipop update follows the delayed release of Android 5.0.2 for the Nexus 9, a couple of days ago.

Here is what Google said in its official Google+ announcement for the Nexus device:

"Starting today, #AndroidLollipop update 5.1.1 will be rolling out to a #Nexus9 near you."

This is great news for Nexus 9 owners as the ageing tablet will finally get to see the latest version of Lollipop onboard like all other Nexus devices.

As GSMArena reports, there has been an inevitable delay in releasing periodic Lollipop updates for the 9in tablet, given the fact that it is the only Nexus device to flaunt a 64-bit chipset and thus requiring a lot more updates and fixes, before the final release rolls out to the public.

In other words, it means that Google is poised to roll out the bug-fix update for the widespread bricking issue found on some Nexus 9 devices, following the recent Android 5.0.2 OTA update.

With the official announcement from Google already confirming that the Android 5.1.1 update is around the corner, we could rest assured that the latest Lollipop update for the 9in Nexus tablet is just a few days away.
