If you are a user of the Motorola Moto G smartphone, then do check for a new build of Android 5.0 (Lollipop) for your device.

According to an ArsTechnica report, a custom version (which may not be the stable release) of Android Lollipop is live in the US and can even be downloaded by Moto G users in the country.

Even Google has posted release notes about an Android Lollipop build reaching second-gen Moto G smartphones.

Various features brought along by the update are also mentioned, and the new functionality set is as follows:

  • Material design UI
  • New notification UI and Priorities
  • Ambient Display Mode
  • Flashlight
  • Screen pinning for applications
  • New battery saver mode
  • Internet connection verification (authenticity of connections)
  • Smart Lock feature for enhanced security
  • Multiple user account support
  • Motorola Assist and Downtime features
  • 256-bit key encryption feature for better data protection

Installing the latest Android Lollipop version within your Moto G smartphone:

Before installing the update, do remember to check that the battery within your device is charged up to at least 50%. Also, always remember to connect to an available Wi-Fi network.

If you have received a notification message for this update:

  1. Select "Yes, I'm in."
  2. After the software is downloaded, select "Install now."
  3. After the software is installed, your phone will re-start automatically.

  1. Select the Settings icon in the apps menu.
  2. Select "About phone."
  3. Select "System updates."
  4. Select "Yes, I'm in." After the software is downloaded, select "Install now."
  5. After the software is installed, your phone will re-start automatically.
