Google has released the final developer preview of the Android 7.0 Nougat OS which will be followed soon by the final OTA public version. Given tech giant's previous launch patterns a possible September release can be expected for the Android N.

The latest preview is the fifth and final testing version of the Android N. Google has always encouraged developers as well as public testers to test their OS and apps running on this OS to eradicate any bugs before the final release.

The company listed on its blog the major highlights of the final version of the developer preview of Android N:

  • System images for Nexus and other preview devices
  • An emulator that you can use for doing the final testing of your apps to make sure they're ready
  • The final N APIs (API level 24) and latest system behaviors and UI
  • The latest bug fixes and optimizations across the system and in preinstalled apps

Apart from this the DP5 also features an updated Easter Egg. To make this work tap the 'N' on the Easter Egg screen which will cycle through a series of emoji. The 'N' will additionally drop the purple-blue colours for a more faded beige that matches the colour of nougat bars.
