The Android Open Kang Project (AOKP) team follows the release of Build 4 of the AOKP Jelly Bean ROM with Build 5, based on Android 4.1.2 (Jelly Bean) and sourced from a number of Android devices. The new features in the release are:

  • Customisable lock-screen Ring targets, with editor in ROMControl
  • Alternate default app picker
  • Menu User Interface (UI) overflow toggle
  • Option to disable vibration for Notification expansion
  • RAM bar in Recents panel
  • Timeout and instant lock options for slide lock
  • New icons by Kwes
  • VPN traffic amount in human format

Pre-Requisites

  • Install appropriate USB drivers for the Galaxy Note and ensure USB debugging mode is enabled
  • Ensure at least 70 percent battery charge
  • Ensure device is rooted and ClockWorkMod (CWM) Recovery is installed

To Install Android 4.1.2 AOKP Jelly Bean Build 5 on Galaxy Note

  • Download Android 4.1.2 AOKP Jelly Bean Build 5 for Galaxy Note to computer
  • Download Google apps package
  • Connect device to computer and copy downloaded files to SD card on device
  • Disconnect device from computer and switch it off
  • Re-start device in Recovery mode (to do so, press Volume Down while starting device)
  • In CWM Recovery, perform a complete data wipe, scroll to Flash Zip from SD card and select using Power button and then select Choose Zip from SD card using Power button
  • Use Volume keys to browse to stored ROM file and select and confirm installation using Power button
  • After installation, follow above step to install Google Apps package
  • After installation, return to main Recovery menu and select Reboot System; this may take a few minutes

The Samsung Galaxy Note has now been updated to Android 4.1.2 AOKP Jelly Bean Build 5 firmware. This can be verified by navigating to Settings > About Phone.
