Murray secured his place in the semi-final after defeating Gilles Simon in the previous round of the tournament. The world number seven had to mount a comeback after being nearly knocked out of the tournament by the Frenchman.
Murray took time in finding his foothold on the game allowing Simon stormed into the lead to win the first set, 6-1 with ease. The second seed managed to avoid defeat after forcing the second set into a tie-breaker before winning 7-6 (4).
Following his second set victory, the 26-year-old had little difficulty in sending the Frenchman packing out of the tournament, conquering the decisive set of the match, 6-2.
In the other quarter-final, Grigor Dimitrov edged past Ermests Gulbis over three sets. The Bulgarian dropped the first set before registering wins in the subsequent sets to win the match, 4-6, 7-6 (2), 7-5.
The winner between Murray and Dimitrov will take on the winner between Kevin Anderson and Alexandr Dolgopolov in the final on Sunday.
