Overview

World No 2 Murray who survived some nervous moments in the first two rounds enjoyed a smoother ride in the third round as he eased to the round of 16 beating Ivo Karlovic 6-1, 6-4, 7-6 on 27 May. The Scot has secured a spot in the fourth round for the seventh straight time and with both Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal absent from the competition, he will know that if he can continue his form, he is a contender for the first French Open title.

Isner is a different proposition altogether, someone who enjoys the clay surface and has been successful on the surface in the past. The American, like his opponent, has had to face three tough matches so far but has managed to survive. Isner has lost all his encounters against Murray in the past.
