Overview

Andy Murray's 7-6, 7-5 win over Tomas Berdych in the quarter-final on 4 November along with Novak Djokovic's shock loss to Marin Cilic has ensured that the Scot is only one win away from securing the world number one ranking.

If he beats Raonic on Saturday, Murray would create history to become the first British man to head the rankings since they were introduced in 1973. He would also be the second oldest man to reach the top spot since 30-year-old John Newcombe did it in 1974.

The 29-year-old is on a 19-match unbeaten streak and comes into this game as the favourite to not only extend his streak but also claim the world number one ranking.

Canadian Milos Raonic had a brilliant first half of 2016, winning the title in Brisbane, while reaching the semi-final of the Australian Open and reaching the finals of the Indian Wells Masters, the Queens Club tournament and the Wimbledon Championships.

Since then though Raonic's form has nosedived but the surface at Paris suits him and he will be looking to use that to his advantage as he tries and stops an opponent who is in the form of his life.
