The Angelina Jolie-wannabe teen from Iran who claimed she underwent 50 surgeries to look like her Hollywood idol has revealed she faked it all along.

Sahar Tabar had been dubbed cruel names on Instagram including "zombie" and "Corpse Bride" after her gaunt selfies went viral.

The 19-year-old has finally come clean about her shockingly distorted look, with pictures showing her face resembling a scary mask on the social media platform.

Fortunately, Tabar's bizarre features are the result of a combination of makeup magic and computer wizardry.

The Iranian teenager told Sputnik: "Now I can see that I have something in common with (Angelina Jolie), but I amuse myself, and to look like someone is not my goal."

She added: "Over time I post a photo, I make my face more fun and funny, it is a form of self-expression, a kind of art.

"My fans know that this is not my real face."

The photo tricks have helped her amass 14.5K followers on the social media platform, despite receiving criticism on a daily basis.

The teen has become famed for her hollow cheeks and inflated lips, along with her bright blue eyes as she attempted to emulate Oscar-winning actress Jolie.

Tabar, who reportedly lost 40kg in weight as part of her transformation, continued: "Over time I post a photo, I make my face more fun and funny, it is a form of self-expression, a kind of art.

"My fans know that this is not my real face."

On 28 November, an Instagram account using Tabar's name rebuffed the allegations of multiple surgeries, stating: "Hello relatively dear followers, the picture that you're scrutinizing, even though I didn't like it, I kept it in ... I must say I only had [indeterminate number of] surgery, not 50 surgeries, and foreign sites and channels were very biased in the way they talked about my photos. I thought these people are probably living in the 18th century and they haven't seen or heard of technology or makeup and they are really surprised."

Soon after Tabar's images went viral on the internet, many compared her to the skeletal bride Emily of Tim Burton's musical fantasy film.

Others even likened her to the zombies from the popular AMC show, The Walking Dead. But a few savvy social media users rightly assumed her photos were the result of clever photo editing and makeup.
