It seems like Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie's eldest son has chosen sides amid their parents' divorce saga. Maddox, 15, reportedly refused to attend an emotional reunion with his father and instead chose to stay behind with the Maleficent actress.

"He [Maddox] chose not to go and stayed with Angie [Angelina Jolie]," a source told Us Weekly.

A second source told the celebrity news website that Maddox, who was adopted by Jolie in 2002, "is very close with Angie" and "he doesn't really see himself as Brad's son" even though the Allied star legally adopted him in 2006.

Another source said: "Maddox never wants to see Brad again."

However, the report said that Maddox's wish to not see Pitt had nothing to do with the 41- year-old actress.

Jolie "is not trying to poison the kids against Brad.... She wants them to have a relationship with him once their health and safety is assured," a source said.

The emotional reunion conducted in the presence of DCFS (Department of Children Family Services) personnel reportedly saw the 52-year-old actor breaking down in front of his children.

"It was a very emotional meeting," a source told InTouch magazine. "Once the kids came in, [Brad Pitt] lit up. He had tears in his eyes and tried to hold it together because he didn't want them to get upset because he was crying. The visit was gut-wrenching: Vivienne, 8, and Zahara, 11, both started crying, asking when they could go home [to Brad's compound in LA's Los Feliz neighbourhood]."

Besides Maddox, the former couple shares five other children - Zahara (11), Pax (12), Shiloh (10), and twins Knox and Vivienne (8).

The two first met on the sets of their movie Mr & Mrs Smith in 2005 and got married in August 2014.
