Antalyaspor say they are close to signing Manchester United goalkeeper Victor Valdes, who wants to leave Old Trafford, according to the Turkish club's president.

Valdes, 33, signed an 18-month contract at Old Trafford with the option to extend that deal for a further year in January.

Having trained with the club prior to the deal being signed after a lengthy injury layoff, the ex-Barcelona 'keeper made just two appearances for the Premier League side at the end of the 2014-15.

While uncertainty over the future of United's current first choice David de Gea suggests he could become the no. 1 at Old Trafford next season, Antalyaspor claim Valdes wants to leave the club.

And having already signed his ex-Barcelona teammate Samuel Eto'o, they are confident of making the move happen.

"He wants to leave Manchester United," Antalyaspor president Gultekin Gencer told Eurosport, as translated by turkish-football.com. "We have made an official bid. I believe it will be completed within a couple of days."

Valdes played just twice for the United first team last season against Arsenal and Hull City while De Gea was out injured and also played a number of games for the club's Under-21 ranks.

While Antalyaspor has shown their ambition by signing Eto'o, some of their claims are perhaps best taken with a pinch of salt, with the newly promoted side also hopeful of signing Lionel Messi within the next five years.

United have had a busy summer already in dealing with sides from Turkey's Super Lig. Winger Nani has joined Fenerbahce on a three-year deal in recent weeks and is soon to be joined by Robin van Persie, after the club confirmed talks on Thursday.

Full back Rafael da Silva meanwhile has been targeted by Galatasaray, according the Guardian. The 25-year-old has been deemed surplus to requirements by van Gaal with Matteo Darmian poised to join the club from Torino.
