Bruno Mars is a fan of former US president Barack Obama and even performed at a concert on the South Lawn of the White House back in 2015. But the singer managed to shock fans with a throwback photo of him with the former first lady and her husband.

The 16 August Instagram post showed the Uptown Funk hitmaker posing along with Mr and Mrs Obama and Mars' uncanny resemblance to the couple did not go unnoticed. Fans of the 31-year-old were surprised by how similar the three looked and joked that he probably was their "secret son".

"Bruno looks like a proud son," one person pointed out while another commented that it looked like "a family photo of an African American family, before going to church".

The 24K Magic singer recently made headlines for donating $1m (£777,300) to aid victims of the Flint water crisis. During his concert in Auburn Hills, Michigan on 12 August, Mars and tour promoter tour Live Nation announced that revenues from the Detroit-area show had been redirected to the Community Foundation of Greater Flint which helps people affected by lead-poisoning from old pipes that supply water in the area.

"I'm very thankful to the Michigan audience for joining me in supporting this cause. On-going challenges remain years later for Flint residents, and it's important that we don't forget our brothers and sisters affected by this disaster," he said in a statement.

"As people, especially as Americans, we need to stand together to make sure something like this never happens in any community ever again."
