Overview

Goals from Goncalo Paciencia and Pite condemned Argentina to a 2-0 defeat in their opening fixture at the Rio Olympics, leaving them bottom of Group D. The Albiceleste realistically need at least a point against Algeria to have a chance of progressing to the knockout stages.

The two-time Olympic gold winners' attack will be led by Atletico Madrid forward Angel Correa. Real Sociedad goalkeeper Geronimo Rulli will be hoping to redeem himself after his mistake led to Pite's goal in the Portugal match.

Algeria lost their opening match 3-2 to Honduras in a thriller at the Olympic Stadium in Rio. The North African outfit are appearing at the men's Olympic football tournament for the second time.
