Arsenal scout Tony Banfield says that if he was Arsene Wenger he would bring Napoli midfielder Jorginho to the Emirates in the summer transfer window. The 24-year-old played a key role term in helping his side secure a berth in the 2016/17 season's Champions League.

Banfield is quoted by Napoli fan blog Gonfialarete as saying: "There is a footballer in Naples (for whom I) would sign a blank cheque. This football player is Jorginho - the strongest midfielder currently in the Serie A. Watching him play is a pleasure for the eyes, it makes me mad."

Arsenal have since been in touch with IBTimes UK to refute the claims made by Gonfialarete.

The Italian international is a rumoured target for the Gunners and his agent confirmed in May that several clubs are interested in securing his services. Jorginho's representative believes Napoli are likely to make a profit if they allow his client to leave the club. Banfield claims he will "sign a blank cheque" and has suggested that he is one of the best midfielders in the Serie A.

Arsenal are also reportedly interested in signing Jorginho's club teammate Gonzalo Higuain. According to Sky Sports, the Gunners are interested in bringing the Argentine international to the Emirates this summer.
