Roy Hodgson has confirmed that Theo Walcott is a doubt for the friendly against Germany and England after he suffered a dead leg in training that kept him off the field on the day before the game. It will be a major blow for the 27-year-old who was looking forward to cementing his place in the starting eleven for the Three Lions especially with competition from the likes of Danny Welbeck, Harry Kane, Jamie Vardy and others posing a major threat for his chances to get selected.

Arsenal will be hoping that the injury isn't too serious and he will be available for their surge until the end of the season, with eight games still left in the campaign. The north London club are eleven points behind league leaders Leicester City and six behind second placed Tottenham Hotspur.

Gary Cahill has been named the captain for the fixture and Dele Alli will be given his first start in an England shirt after impressing for Spurs. Four Tottenham players have been named in the starting eleven with Danny Rose, Eric Dier and Harry Kane also set to take the field in Berlin. Hogdson has big plans for Alli and believes the 19-year-old has the talent to emulate the likes of Bryan Robson.

"He could do anything in that midfield position," Hodgson said, as quoted by Sky Sports. "I think he can be box-to-box, a No 10, if you like to call it that, or a No 6. He could be any of them because he has genuine all-round ability. He can challenge, he can run, he can fight for the ball, he can see a pass, he can score a goal.

"You mention Bryan Robson — that's the player I would like to think he could become, but don't forget we're talking about a 19-year-old. It's so dangerous these things because he's at the start of his career and we hope it is going to be a very long one, both for Spurs and for England.

"But we believe in him and we think he is good. If I hadn't have believed in him, I wouldn't have put him in the team tomorrow night because we're going to go out there and try and win this game," he added.
