Arsenal have been handed a double injury blow ahead of their clash against Southampton on Tuesday (2 February) after Tomas Rosicky and Jack Wilshere suffered setbacks in their recovery process. The former made his first appearance of the season during the Gunners' 2-1 win over Burnley in the fourth round of the FA Cup, while the latter is yet to kick a ball in anger this campaign following a hairline fracture just before the start of the 2015/16 season.

According to the Daily Mail, the Czech Republic international suffered a thigh injury when he made his comeback as a substitute in the 71st minute during Arsenal's win over the Clarets. It was his first appearance since his injury return, and the report claims that the midfielder is facing at least four weeks on the sidelines.

The latest injury setback could prove to be the final straw in Rosicky's Arsenal career, as the 33-year-old midfielder is out of contract in the summer, and will most likely be allowed to leave the club. He is already behind a number of midfielders in the pecking order and could struggle for regular game time, even if he gets fit before the end of the campaign.

Wilshere, on the other hand, is yet to make an appearance this campaign following a freak injury during training ahead of Arsenal's clash against Chelsea for the Community Shield. The midfielder was expected to return at the end of 2015, but suffered a setback and was expected back in mid-March. Wenger had admitted that the player has begun running, which would see him return to full fitness in six weeks.

According to the Telegraph, however, the midfielder has suffered a setback following his return to full training and is now facing the prospect of missing the entirety of the season, which will put his chances of making the England squad for the European Championships in France in June in serious doubt.

The French manager has seen all his midfielders be sidelined at some point in the season due to injuries, and will now be without Wilshere, Santi Cazorla and Tomas Rosicky during a crucial part of the season.
