Arsenal legend David Seaman has urged the Gunners to exercise caution as sacking Arsene Wenger after the end of the season could put them in a similar situation as Manchester United, who missed out on Champions League football under David Moyes and are only just holding on under Louis van Gaal. Seaman believes that Wenger is still the right man for the Gunners and the fans who want his head do not have their priorities right.

The Frenchman has been under massive pressure during the last few months. The team have dropped out of the FA Cup and in the Champions League after a few underwhelming performances when they managed only a solitary win in seven successive games in all competitions. They lost to Watford in the quarter-finals of the FA Cup, a competition they have won for the last two years and lost 5-1 to Barcelona on aggregate over two legs in the round of 16 tie of the Champions League.

However, the biggest disappointment was in the league where they secured only a single point from a run of three games, which has put their title ambitions in doubt. The Gunners are currently 11 points behind league leaders Leicester City and six behind Tottenham Hotspur, albeit having played a game less.

Seaman has urged the fans to wait till the end of the season before jumping on the manager and take an informed decision over his future.

"I'm so fed up of all this negative stuff about Arsenal," said Seaman, as quoted by the Mirror. "A change at the top? Not for me. I'm a massive fan of Arsene. Let's see what happens at the end of this season. Let's see what's gone wrong and then sort it out.

"But, for me, he's been brilliant. I worked with him for about seven or eight years and he was fantastic. I would stick by Arsene. I've always said that and I haven't reason to change my mind."
