Arsenal are reportedly preparing a move for AS Monaco midfielder Geoffrey Kondogbia, who is also a target for Serie A side Inter Milan during the summer transfer window.

According to the Mirror, the Gunners are ready to rival the Italians for the French midfielder, who is valued at around £25m by the Ligue 1 club.

Monaco are reluctant to sell the midfielder they signed from Sevilla two years back, but even their hefty price tag has failed to dissuade interested clubs with Inter making enquiries, while the Gunners also pondering a summer move.

Arsene Wenger has been a big admirer of the midfield enforcer and got a front row seat to witness his talent, when he played a starring role in the Prinipality club's demolition of Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium in the last-16 of the Champions League.

The midfielder put in an assured performance with a good balance between defence and attack, and despite Francis Coquelin's heroics this season, Kondogbia's box-to-box prowess is likely to tempt Wenger into making a move for the Frenchman.

The French manager is keen on strengthening his midfield and more strength in the middle of the park and will be keeping a keen eye on the midfielder, who still has three years left on his current contract with the Ligue 1 side.

The north London club have been linked with various midfielders with Morgan Schneiderlin and Ilkay Gundogan the most frequently mentioned names, and the Gunners boss is said to be keen on the former, who has made it clear that he wants to leave Southampton.

However, Wenger is said to have shifted focus to the Monaco star after reports suggested that Manchester United were leading the race for the Saints midfielder, and it is understood that an Old Trafford move is the midfielder's first preference as well.
