Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has confirmed the Gunners will be without Aaron Ramsey for their Premier League game against Southampton on Saturday (10 September). The Welsh midfielder has been suffering with a hamstring injury and while he has made progress, Ramsey will not be ready in time for the match at the Emirates.

By contrast, Wenger will be able to call upon Nigerian midfielder Alex Iwobi, who returned to full training earlier this week after a thigh injury. The 20-year-old impressed Wenger during pre-season training, but suffered the injury during Arsenal's opening day loss to Liverpool.

The Arsenal boss also confirmed he has no new injury doubts to worry about following the international break. He did, however, reveal he has yet to see how goalkeeper David Ospina and forward Alexis Sanchez have pulled up since returning from South America.

"Apart from Sanchez and someone else who I haven't seen yet, everyone returned okay (from international break)," Wenger said during a pre-match press conference ahead of Arsenal's second home game of the season, according to The Mirror.

Meanwhile, Wenger also confirmed he has been impressed by the speed with which new signings Shkodran Mustafi and Lucas Perez have adapted to life at Arsenal. However, he is yet to decide whether they will start against Southampton.

"[The new signings] have adapted very quickly and very well but the real test is the games. The focus is on quality in the training and we'll see how they get on," Wenger said of Arsenal's new recruits.
