Arsenal have been handed a boost in signing Micah Richards after the Manchester City defender admitted that he is considering his future at the Etihad.

The Gunners have been linked with a move for Richards in the summer, but the deal did not go through.

The Mirror reports Arsene Wenger could revive his interest in signing the full-back after the contract issues with Bacary Sagna and Carl Jenkinson fails to impress Arsenal manager.

The 25-year-old made seven league starts during Roberto Mancini's final season with the Citizens with injury keeping him out of the action for the most part of the last season.

The Italian manager fielded Pablo Zabaleta in the right-back position, who was impressive for City during the previous term.

Manuel Pellegrini replaced Mancini in the summer and the former Malaga boss has preferred the Argentine ahead of Richards in the starting lineup. The England international has featured in only two league appearances this season under the Chilean manager.

The lack of game time has left Richards frustrated as he would consider making a move away from the Etihad for more playing time.

"I've already spoken to City and they're happy to extend my deal but I've said I just want to see how many games I play this season," the Express quoted Richards as saying.

"I don't ever want to leave Manchester City with the way everything is going here, but it's one of those where you have to look at your career and say, 'Are you playing enough?' and come the end of the season I'll do that.

"At the moment, to get my top sharpness I don't think I am playing enough, if I'm honest. But everyone knows how things can change in football so I'm not going to get down about it.

"I'm old enough, I've been in the game a while now. I'm not going to be immature and say I'll leave if I'm not playing. It's a decision (whether to leave) I'll kind of make from January through to the summer and see where we're at," he added.

Richards has already featured for City at the European stage and a move to the Emirates could see the England defender replace Sagna in the Gunners' squad.
