And that's it! For the first time in 14 attempts Arsene Wenger has a win over Jose Mourinho. Cue Chelsea fans dismissing today's game as a meaningless pre-season friendly and their Arsenal counterparts claiming a powerful psychological victory. Well deserved from the Gunners today, anyway.

FULL TIME: Arsenal 1-0 Chelsea

Courtois denies Arsenal again! Brilliant interplay from Arsenal again with Cazorla threading a wonderful pass through to find Gibbs' intelligent run. He tries to slot past the big Belgian but Arsenal are again denied a second. It's unlikely to matter though....

Four minutes of time added on just as Arsenal win a free kick inside their own box after another half chance for Chelsea.

Matic is fouled after some neat footwork and all of a sudden it kicks off a bit with players from both sides squaring up. Anthony Taylor calms things down and Fabregas is able to swing the free kick into the box only for Ivanovic to head wide. Minutes of the contest left.

Arsenal so close to a second! Living on the counter, Cazorla is left on his own just inside the box after Giroud's brilliant run took Cahill out of the equation. The Spaniard tried to slot one into the corner of the net but Courtois makes a great save to block it. It comes back out to Ramsey who tries to scoop it over everyone into the back of the net but a deflection takes it out for a corner which comes to nothing.

More changes, Kieran Gibbs comes on for Ozil while Victor Moses replaces Terry. Eh?

Chelsea are getting closer. Zouma swings in an inviting cross into the box that Hazard flicks towards goal. There isn't enough on it however and Falcao can't direct it goal bound.

Hazard is hacked down by Arteta and Chelsea can load the box for the free kick. Fabregas tries to swing it in from the right but it is an appalling effort that fails to beat the first man and Arsenal clear.

That will be Oxlade-Chamberlain's last contribution as he comes off to be replaced by Mikel Arteta who makes his first appearance since November 2014.

Oxlade-Chamberlain tries his luck again from the edge of the area and his effort takes a wicked deflection off Zouma, but it only guides is straight into Courtois' arms.

Cech claims that corner at the second time of asking and Arsenal break menacingly. It comes across to Cazorla who creeps down the byline before threading a pass into Giroud. From six yards out, however, the Frenchman blazes over.

Despite Ivanovic's best efforts to put him off, Cech leaps across to palm away Oscar's free kick. Chelsea have a corner, but before they take it there is another Chelsea change as Kurt Zouma replaces Azpilicueta.

Free kick for Chelsea now on the edge of the box after Coquelin slides across Hazard. The Gunners midfielder is also booked and Chelsea have a real chance to work Cech from this set piece.

Giroud is involved straight away, peeling away from his marker towards the near post but he can't get a clean connection on Oxlade-Chamberlain's cross.

First change of the afternoon for Arsenal as Olivier Giroud replaces Walcott.

Oxlade-Chamberlain rolls Azpilicueta in his own half and springs forward, flicking the ball past Matic too before the Spaniard catches up to cynically haul the Arsenal winger down to receive a booking.

Ooof, what a miss from Hazard. Fabregas brilliantly turns Coquelin on the edge of the box and slide an equally sublime ball through for Hazard who has broken free inside the right of the box. Koscielny is racing across to put pressure on the Belgian and it works as he fires a wild shot over the bar. Rubbish effort

Chelsea go route 1 with Fabregas lumping a ball over the top for Falcao to run onto. He turns away from Mertesacker who is slow to react but his first touch lets him down, allowing the German to get back and hook the ball clear.

Oscar is quickly in the thick of it, cutting in from the left past Coquelin towards the edge of the box. Falcao is peeling off to the right ahead of him but the Brazilian takes the shot on instead. It was the wrong decision in the end; his effort was a poor one.

Another change for Chelsea here as Ramires comes off with Oscar entering the fray.

Ramsey slips a neat ball through to Cazorla on the edge of the D who wrong foots his marker before sliding a neat ball through for Ozil to run onto but he over hits his pass.

Falcao receives the ball and cuts inside from the left, looking to curl one into the top corner only for Monreal to block his effort.

One change to bring you as the second half kicks off, Radamel Falcao enters the fray to replace Loic Remy.

HALF TIME: Arsenal 1-0 Chelsea

Arsenal are having plenty of joy down that right flank. This time, Hector Bellerin gets in on the act, bursting past his compatriot Azpilicueta before cutting a pass inside for Oxlade-Chamberlain, He tries to repeat his earlier trick, shifting the ball onto his left foot to shoot but he is crowded out just in time and Chelsea clear. And that will be that for the first half.

Arsenal close to a second! Brilliant stuff as the Gunners as they cut through Chelsea with precise one touch passing, eventually springing Oxlade-Chamberlain down the right flank. His first touch is a little heavy, but still manages to swing a cross into the box that Ivanovic just about clears after a brave leap that left him in a heap.

What a chance for Ramires! Remy springs the Arsenal offside trap, sneaking down the left channel before cutting the ball back onto his favoured right foot. He scoops an inviting cross into the six yard area where Ramires is waiting all on his lonesome, but can only nod a tame header straight into the grateful arms of Petr Cech,

Now Ramires tries to bend one in from the edge of the box but Cech can watch the shot fly wide.

Chelsea probe at the edge of the Arsenal box with Willian eventually finding Remy. With his back to goal, the Frenchman tries to turn but goes down under pressure from Mertesacker. There are soft appeals for a penalty but Chelsea carry on regardless, shifting the ball back out to Willian on the left who drills a cross into the box. It almost falls to Hazard but Arsenal manage to dig it out of trouble first.

And Remy is offside. AGAIN.

Brilliant from Oxlade-Chamberlain! Walcott receives the ball and threads it out to the winger who is in acres of space out on the right. He cuts inside, drops a shoulder to jink past Azpilicueta before rifling a shot into the far corner with his weaker foot.

Goal! Arsenal 1-0 Chelsea (Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain)

Cazorla is clipped by Ivanovic and wins a free kick out on the left. The Spaniard whips it into the box with Walcott connecting with a glancing header, but it's directed straight into Courtois' arms.

Cahill cuts across to help Willian out with Ramsey trying to break down the flank but is left with blood streaming from his nose for his troubles after hitting the deck, nose first. The centre half was thought to have suffered a broken nose during the club's last preseason game against Barcelona but was passed fit to play today. After a brief pause, however, he's back up and looks okay to continue.

Ozil jinks his way into the Chelsea box from the left, laying the ball of to Cazorla just inside the box. The Spaniard lines up a first time effort but he is just crowded out by a posse of Chelsea defenders.

Remy, for the fourth or fifth time inside 15 minutes drifts offside to bring an end to a promising move from Chelsea.

Chelsea come forward again through Willian who threads a neat ball through to Remy who has burst down the left channel. He wins a corner for his trouble, from which Mertesacker is bundled over by Mertesacker. Arsenal free kick

Fabregas hits the deck after crashing into Mertesacker inside the box. Did he nick the ball away from the big German before he was felled? It looked like he did, but referee Anthony Taylor is not interested in appeals for a penalty.

Matic tries to bulldoze his way down the left but Bellerin marshalls him well, winning the ball back before spraying it over to his left. Walcott takes it past Ivanovic with ease and threatens to burst into space down the flank but Terry gets across just in a nick of time to intercept.

And we are off! Seconds in Matic is robbed of possession and Walcott drives forward through the heart of Chelsea's defence. He shifts the ball wide to Oxlade-Chamberlain who swings a dangerous cross into the box that Courtois just about manages to claw it out of the air.

We are moments away from kick off. Worth noting, Petr Cech got a tremendous reception from both sets of fans as he made his way out onto the pitch.

It seems Jose Mourinho was telling a few porkies on Friday in his press conference. Speaking to BT Sport, he reveals Diego Costa may not be fit for the start of the season next week.

Today is a trophy, a little one but still a trophy and more important
than a summer tournament. There is no advantage and no disadvantage [to
winning the Community Shield]. I don't know if Diego Costa will be
available for the start of the season. He had a little problem after the
Barcelona game. After that he was training normally and we thought he
would be ready, but this morning he was feeling uncomfortable.

As he did in the FA Cup final, Theo Walcott starts as a centre forward ahead of Olivier Giroud. It didn't turn out too badly last time, did it? Other than that, it is what you would normally expect from Arsene Wenger this afternoon as he aims to register his first ever win over Jose Mourinho.

New signings Radamel Falcao and Asmir Begovic settle for a spot on the Chelsea bench alongside Victor Moses and Juan Cuadrado.

Despite saying otherwise in a press conference on Friday, Diego Costa is not fit enough for today's game. Jose Mourinho says a 'slight discomfort' in the striker's hamstring has ruled him out today.

TEAM NEWS: Petr Cech does indeed start against his former club in his first game as an Arsenal player, Theo Walcott, days after penning a juicy new contract at the Emirates, leads the Gunners' attack.

TEAM NEWS: Diego Costa misses out completely after that hamstring problem during the week with Loic Remy leading the Chelsea attack in front of the trio of Eden Hazard, Ramires and Willian.

Chelsea starting XI: Courtois; Ivanovic, Cahill, Terry (c), Azpilicueta; Matic, Fabregas; Ramires, Willian, Hazard; Remy

Subs: Begovic, Zouma, Mikel, Oscar, Cuadrado, Moses, Falcao

Confirmed Chelsea team to face Arsenal: Courtois; Ivanovic, Cahill, Terry (c), Azpilicueta; Matic, Fabregas; Ramires, Willian, Hazard; Remy

Confirmed Arsenal to face Chelsea: Cech, Mertesacker, Koscielny, Ozil, Walcott, Oxlade-Chamberlain, Ramsey, Monreal, Cazorla, Bellerin, Coquelin

Radamel Falcao is also in line for a debut this afternoon. Diego Costa was taken off with a hamstring injury during Chelsea's pre-season game with Barcelona last week and while Jose Mourinho confirmed he has a fully fit squad during his press conference on Friday, he may opt for the Colombian.

Gary Cahill is also fit despite taking a blow to the face in that same game.

Petr Cech is in line to make his Arsenal debut against his former employers this afternoon but there is no Danny Welbeck or Alexis Sanchez for the Gunners. Welbeck is still struggling with a knee problem while Sanchez has been given an extended summer break after helping Chile to Copa America success this summer.

It's been a long summer, but we are almost there. The curtain raiser to the 2015-16 season is almost upon us as Jose Mourinho and Arsene Wenger clash again for the first piece of silverware of the season.
