Arsenal will take on Premier League side Southampton in the Capital One Cup third round clash at the Emirates on Tuesday evening.

Where to Watch

Kick-off is set for 7:45pm BST. Radio commentary of the game will be available on BBC Radio 5 Live.

Overview

Arsenal have ended their four-match winless streak after registering a 3-0 victory over Aston Villa at Villa Park.

The Gunners' midfielder Mesut Ozil was subjected to criticism for his performance prior to the weekend league fixture.

Arsene Wenger played the German international out of his position for the clash against Manchester City and Borussia Dortmund. However, the Gunners' manager played Ozil behind the striker and it immediately paid off.

Ozil opened the scoring, before assisting another for Danny Welbeck, who scored his first goal for the north London side.

Wenger would be hoping for a win against Southampton in order to progress to the next stage of the competition.

Meanwhile, Southampton have had a great start to the Premier League season under the guidance of their new manager Ronald Koeman. The Saints saw several of their star players leave the club in the summer transfer window and despite that, they have had a brilliant run in the first few matches.

In the last fixture, Victor Wanyama's late goal gave Southampton a narrow win over Swansea City at the Liberty Stadium. They are on a four-match unbeaten run and look in fine form.

It remains to be seen whether Southampton will continue their recent form against Arsenal or they will they end their unbeaten run on Tuesday evening.

What Managers Say

Arsene Wenger: "The goal Welbeck scored [against Villa] was similar to the one he scored for England in Switzerland. Knowing the way the media works I was pleased he got the goal as quickly as possible, but he played a very good all round game."

Ronald Koeman: "The start is fantastic for us and it's nice for the fans and for everybody who loves the Saints. But as the manager, as the technical staff, we have to keep quiet and keep continuing what we are doing until now. It's a great start in the league and maybe nobody did expect it, but we believe in our ambition and spirit."
