EasyJet passengers up in March

London - Budget airline easyJet has reported a 20.5 per cent rise in total passenger numbers (including on GB Airways) in March 2008 compared to the same month last year. The airline said it had sold 3,730,134 seats to passengers in March.

EasyJet said that its total load factor (seats taken as a percentage of seats available) also rose in March compared to last year by 3 per cent up to 87.4 per cent.

EasyJet flights alone saw a rise in passenger numbers of 13.7 per cent to 3,517,740 compared to last year and a rise in load factor of 2.9 per cent to 87.3 per cent.

GB Airways, which is owned by easyJet saw passenger numbers fall by 10.8 per cent to 212,394 but saw load factor increase by 3.4 per cent to 90.2 per cent.

The two companies combined saw passenger numbers increase in the last 12 months by 14.8 per cent up to 39,652,382. Load factor for the companies however fell, but only by 0.8 per cent to 83.5 per cent.
