Home repossessions orders up 24 percent
Posted 15 August 2008 @ 10:11 am GMT
Court orders for mortgage repossessions in England and Wales rose an annual 24 percent in the second three months of the year to 28,568, the Ministry of Justice said on Friday.
Orders were 4 percent higher than in the first three months of the year.
The figures show the number of orders for repossession of homes made by county courts. Since many of the orders made will not have been enforced, the number of actual repossessions will likely be lower. This data is not available yet.
In the first quarter, 27,515 orders were made. The number of repossessed homes stood at 18,900, up 41 percent on the quarter.
