Tube strike costly for air travellers

The Piccadilly line carries numerous passengers to and from the Heathrow airport daily. All of the five terminals of the airport are served by the tube line.

An estimated 180,000 passengers use Heathrow everyday and a considerable portion of this use the London Tube services.

Travelling by tube is one of the cheapest options available for commuters travelling to Heathrow from central London.

According to the latest available news from TfL, the Piccadilly line has no service to and from the Heathrow Airport.

Alternative travel options include the Heathrow Express (costing £16.50 for a single ticket), Heathrow Connect running between Heathrow airport and London Paddington (costing £7.40 for a single ticket). National express runs coaches to and from Heathrow airport (costing £5 for a single ticket).

The mayor of London has condemned the strike as “the most insensitive strike ever held in London”. The strike will end tonight at 7pm.
