A child has been rescued from Yemenia airways flight IY626 that crashed into the Indian Ocean off the coast of Comoros, Associate Press has reported.
The flight, which originated from Paris, was on its way from Sanaa in Yemen to Moroni, the capital of Comoros. A Comoros police official said that a child was rescued from the ocean in the region where the flight crashed.
The news was confirmed by an Immigration official, Rachida Abdullah who said, a toddler was rescued from the Ocean crash site on Tuesday.
The toddler was the sole survivor to be rescued so far. Three bodies and some debris from the aircraft were also retrieved, said the immigration officer to Associated Press.
The flight has 153 passengers and crew onboard and many were returning from Paris. Authorities in Paris airport confirmed that 66 French were onboard the aircraft.
