The investigation into the crash is being carried out by the French organisation Investigation and Analysis Bureau (BEA). The BEA announced that the conclusion that the flight broke up after impact was made through examining the wreckage.

Alain Bouillard, from the BEA said: "The plane was not destroyed while in flight.

"The plane appears to have hit the surface of the water in flying position with a strong vertical acceleration."

Moreover, the investigators said the speed sensor called the Pitot tube was not the only reason for the crash.

Bouillard said, "it is an element but not the cause."
