Mercator pursuing Sub-Saharan opportunities

Mercator Gold has placed 20m new shares with Suphansa Holdings and in exchange received 3m shares held by Suphansa in Uranio AG, a Swiss company quoted Frankfurt, Berlin and Stuttgart stock exchanges.

Uranio AG is an exploration and emerging mining company and its principal assets are Uranium exploration properties in the Central African Republic and in Argentina.

Uranio had gross assets of £6.6 million for the financial year to 31 December 2008 and the 3m shares exchanged represent 1.33% of the issued share capital.

The principal shareholder of Suphansa is Philip Saunders who has a close association with Richard Ondoko, a businessman resident in the CAR who was responsible for assisting the Uranio involvement in that country.

Mercator intends to pursue jointly with Mr Saunders and Mr Ondoko other opportunities throughout Sub-Saharan Africa.
