London - In our previous article Smartphone Wars: Sony Ericsson Satio versus Apple iPhone 3GS (2) , we saw iPhone stage a massive comeback and surge past its formidable rival Satio in the race to win the coveted title of 'the smartest smartphone ever'. As we enter the final leg of the race, the billion dollar question looms – will iPhone be able to defend its title, which it has held since 2007, successfully or will it relinquish it to its newest challenger? To find out, read on.
[11] Miscellaneous: Both the phones boast of features like accelerometer (a crucial sensor that take advantage of tilting - and allows great gaming and use of the phone in landscape mode), GPS, turn by turn navigation, Google Maps and Exchange ActiveSync (which allows you to seamlessly stay synchronised with your Microsoft Exchange email server).
However, unlike iPhone, Satio has FM Radio and gesture control and the device doubles up as an entertainment center, thanks to accessibility to Sony PlayNow arena from where you can download thousands of movies and music tracks. Thanks to Symbian platform, Satio also allows you access to thousands of useful Symbian apps which you can download for free or a small price. Satio also supports java games and applications which iPhone can't.
Unlike iPhone, which does not support Flash, the Satio comes with Flashlite, which means you can see Flash-enabled webpages (however, forget watching Flash-heavy websites like Hulu and Webkinz).
Satio also has a clear and simple RSS reader, a very useful feature.
Satio's another big plus point is its ability of multitasking, which iPhone can't.
On the other hand, iPhone boasts of the legendary App Store, which has over 90,000 apps and iPhone also boasts of features like proximity sensor, ambient light sensor, 3.5mm headphone jack and digital compass, which are absent in Satio.
iPhone also offers a very useful service called MobileMe, a feature that allows you to remotely track the location of the phone when it goes missing, backup data, wipe data from a lost or stolen phone and restore it in a new one.
Winner: Satio. Features such as proximity sensor, ambient light sensor, digital compass, MobileMe and of course, the App Store, can win iPhone some fans but a smartphone, which can't multitask and can't support Flash webpages, is no good these days.
[12] Power and Battery: Satio is equipped with a Li-Po 1000mAh battery that promises enough power to keep Satio juiced up to 660 minutes (talk time) and 360 hours (standby time). On the other hand, iPhone has a built-in Li-Ion battery that promises up to 720 minutes (talk time) and up to 300 hours (standby time).
