Intertek raised to hold from sell at Altium, target rising to 1230p from 1095p

20 November 2009 @ 01:47 pm BST

The drifting Intertek share price suggests the market is missing the point on the potential deal with Det Norske Veritas the company announced today (Nov 20), says Altium.

'Assuming it is consummated, we expect the deal to be tightly complementary, to generate good synergies, and to be solidly earnings accretive.

'A risk undoubtedly remains that the deal may hit a hitch. However on balance it seems more likely that it will progress satisfactorily.

'In addition to the attractions of the deal, this morning's announcement should dispel some of the concerns around strategy which focused on the rather dull IMS earlier in the week.'
