Apple iSlate tech specs leaked – one mean tablet PC

04 Jan, 2010 @ 10:05 am BST | By Andy Wiles

London - Apple fan clubs are buzzing louder than a hive of angry bees with rumours that tech specs of Apple tablet, whose official launch is being expected later this month (the upcoming event – on January 26 - will reportedly be held at the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts in San Francisco - the site of the company's iPod-centric music events held every year in the fall), are already out. However, if the reports on the "leaked" tech specs are true, trust me folks - this is one mean device.

According to the "leaked" tech specs posted by phonearena.com, iSlate (the buzz is that's what the device's going to be called), will feature a 7.1-inch multi-touch display (it was earlier rumoured that iSlate will feature a 10.1-inch display) with fingerprint-resistant coating (makes sense!), 2GB DDR3 SDRAM, 120GB HDD, WiFi, Bluetooth, Ethernet port, built-in stereo speakers and microphone and USB ports.

According to rumour mongers, iSlate's also going to sport a built-in projector (!!), webcam, onscreen virtual keyboard and dedicated 3D graphics that will blow away your mind.

iSlate will also reportedly run on the new Mac OS X 10.7 Clouded Leopard platform that will allow for touchscreen functionality and will bring a new widget-based homescreen.

And guess what? You can download third party applications on iSlate just like on an iPhone.

All these in a rock-solid but ultra-light precision aluminium body and for a price less than $1000. Cool!

Tongues are also wagging that Apple is trying to cement a deal with American TV companies including Disney and CBS that would see top shows appear regularly on the device.

However, 3G wireless connectivity and optical drive are missing.

But, what the heck - if the tech specs are to be trusted, iSlate simply rocks!
