Great Eastern in franchise deal with BPCL

08 February 2010 @ 02:54 pm BST

Coal bed methane producer and developer Great Eastern Energy has signed a franchise agreement with retail distributor Bharat Petroleum Corporation Ltd.

Under the agreement, Great Eastern will establish compressed natural gas dispensing stations at BPCL retail outlets in the cities in and around the Asansol - Durgapur region.

The initial term of the agreement is five years and is subject to further renewal.

Initially, two stations will be opened in this region to dispense CNG and the number of stations is expected to increase as the market for CNG grows.

Great Eastern has established five retail CNG dispensing stations under an existing franchise agreement with the Indian Oil Corporation Ltd.

Great Eastern said these franchise agreements ease the process of opening additional outlets and also assisted in the marketing of CNG.
