Ellie Goulding knocks Lady Gaga's 'The Fame' off the top

Ellie Goulding, 23 year old, up and coming singer-guitarist, who rose to fame after winning the Critics Choice award at this year's Brits has knocked Lady Gaga off the top with 'Lights' this weekend.

After signing to Polydor Records, Ellie's debut single only reached '53'.

However, Ellie, whose birth name is Elena, has gained airplay with performance on 'Later...with Jools Holland' also increasing her popularity too.

Educated in Herefordshire, where she was born, Ellie topped a poll of critics, broadcasters and music industry insiders' as a rising star for the coming year.

After knocking off Lady Gaga's 'The Fame' from number one, Ellie will be looking to 'Guns and Horses' to take the top spot when her next single comes out.

Currently, London MC Tinie Tempeh, occupies the top spot after 'Pass Out' debuted at number one.

In the album chart, Alicia Keys' popular 'The Element of Freedom' remained at number three, whilst the cast of Glee took fourth position.
