House prices up 6.2 pct yy in January

LONDON - House prices rose by a seasonally adjusted 2.2 percent on the month in January, leaving them 6.2 percent higher on the year, data from the Department for Communities and Local Government showed on Tuesday.

The average price of a home stood at 207,159 pounds in January, the DCLG said.
