Strong Q4 lifts First Quantum

First Quantum Minerals posts fourth quarter net earnings of $227.2m compared with a loss of $491.6m a year ago.

Net earnings for the year to the end of December rose to $463.4m - up from $45.9m previously.

The firm reports record quarterly and yearly copper production on successful plant expansions at Kansanshi and Guelb Moghrein.

And it says there was a 58% increase in Q4 gold production to record levels at Kansanshi and Guelb Moghrein on gold circuit and gold plant expansions

The firm had cash of $959.5m at the end of the December - up from $216.5m a year ago.
