Smart metering and energy data specialist Bglobal has been accredited by ELEXON to provide metering data services in the UK half hourly electricity market.

Bglobal, under its market participant identifier BMET, has been approved to operate as a half hourly data collector and half hourly data aggregator.

Bglobal is already accredited as a half hourly meter operator and will be able to provide a full package of half hourly market metering and data services alongside its established non half-hourly smart metering services.

Electricity meters with a peak load above 100kW are required to be read every 30 minutes.

Such meters are typically owned and operated by large commercial and industrial customers with substantial demands for power.

Approximately 115,000 meters, which consume approximately 40% of the UK's total electricity, are currently read in the half hourly market.
