Woolworths has recalled some of its home-brand milk and has reassured its customers that the recall is just a precautionary measure.

The retail giant's home-brand three liter full-cream milk has been recalled from its NSW stores because the product may contain small amounts of cleaning solution, the company said.

"The product is being recalled as the product may contain a small amount of food grade dairy cleaning solution. The milk products may have a yellowish coloring and/or a metallic or chemical taste," Woolworths said in a statement.

"Food products containing cleaning solution may cause illness to some if consumed. No other home brand milk products are affected by this product recall. Any customer who has this product can return it to Woolworths supermarkets for a full refund. We apologize for any inconvenience."

The retailer said the recall is in connection with its dairy supplier, Parmalat Australia who recalled two of its milk products in NSW and the ACT on Friday. Woolworths recalled Pura two-liter full-cream milk and Daisy Fresh three-liter full-cream milk with an expiry date of October 12.

Woolworths said the following NSW stores did not have the affected product for sale: Queanbeyan, Cooma, Jerrabomberra, Young, Cootamundra, Goulburn, Wagga Wagga, Wagga Wagga North, Griffith, Griffith North, Temora, Kooringal, Leeton, Yass, Tumut, Jindabyne, Albury, Lavington, Thurgoona, Corowa and Moama.

Parmalat Australia has also released a statement warning customers not to drink the contaminated milk products.
