The death of American singer and actress Whitney Houston has shocked the world. The 48-year-old singer was found dead in a Beverly Hills hotel room on Saturday.
Born on Aug. 9, 1963, Whitney Houston became one of the most entertaining personalities. She enthralled music lovers around the world with her vocal range and produced some of the most memorable music of her generation including "I Will Always Love You".
Whitney Houston held Guinness World Records as the most awarded female act of all time. She had about 415 awards under her belt including two Emmy Awards, six Grammy Awards, 30 Billboard Music Awards and 22 American Music Awards.

Whitney Houston Dead Hoax
A fast-spreading rumor that singer Whitney Houston was dead is false, according to a statement by her publicist Nancy Seltzer on September 13, 2001. The rumors began when Houston, pictured September 7, 2001 at Michael Jackson's "30th Anniversary Celebration, The Solo Years" at New York's Madison Square Garden, was a no-show at Jackson's second concert September 10. Seltzer said Houston was "perfectly fine" and at home with her family in New Jersey.
