MWC 2012: ZTE Mimosa X Set to Invade Samsung's Galaxy

As part of it and Huawei's Western invasion, Chinese tech company ZTE has added the Mimosa X to its MWC red smartphone army.

Coming alongside the company's already confirmed PF200 and N910 smartphones, ZTE announced on Tuesday that the Mimosa X will appear at 2012's Mobile World Congress (MWC), which starts on 27 February.

Housing some pretty impressive tech, the device is set to run Google's latest Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich operating system. Additionally, as an added layer of intrigue, the unit will be the first smartphone to use Nvidia's new range of modems.

Past that, the device will be powered by an impressive Nvidia Tegra 2 processor and be HSPA+ enabled. Backing this up, the Mimosa X will pack a 4.3 inch 960 x 540 HD display, 5-megapixel rear facing and 0.3-megapixel front facing camera and house 4GB of internal storage.

"The Tegra processor and Icera modem will play an important part in the development of the mobile handset market, and ZTE has worked closely with NVIDIA to develop the Mimosa X smart phone in time for launch at this major global telecoms industry event," said Mr. He Shiyou,Executive vice president and head of the Terminal Division of ZTE.

"We expect that the Tegra processor will have a big impact on the mainstream mobile communications world in the coming months and years."

Set to appear at MWC, while not listing its price ZTE has pegged the device with a nebulous Q2 2012 release date. Check back at the International Business Times UK later in the month for complete MWC coverage and an opening hands-on with the device.
