Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich is reportedly lining up a very ambitious bid!

The Russian billionaire is, according to a report in The Telegraph, lining up an £83m summer raid for Real Madrid duo Cristiano Ronaldo and Gonzalo Higuain.

The Real Madrid stars are believed to be top of the list for summer targets at Stamford Bridge, particularly since two of the club's players - Didier Drogba and Salomon Kalou - are both out of contract at the end of this season and star signing Fernando Torres has struggled to make an impact since arriving from Liverpool for £50m over a year ago.

However, any talk of a move for the aforementioned Madrid pair would depend entirely on Jose Mourinho's decision to return to the London club, since he would have to play a vital role in persuading the players to leave Madrid.

As a counterpoint, a recent IBTimes UK article suggested that there was no way Abramovich would agree to Mourinho returning to Stamford Bridge, meaning that any chance of seeing either Ronaldo or Higuain in Chelsea blues is slim.

The Portuguese winger has been in sublime form this season, picking up where he left off last year. Ronaldo has scored 35 goals in 29 league games and his brace against Real Sociedad, in the 5-1 win on Saturday, means he is now the faster player in La Liga history to hit the 100 league goal mark.

Back in England, Chelsea are planning a major overhaul in the summer, after a disappointing season. their key target now must be Champions League football - if they fail to ensure participation in Europe's premier tournament next season, not only can they say goodbye to chances of landing Ronaldo and Higuain but even players like Napoli's Edinson Cavani and Ezequiel Lavezzi; the duo are reportedly available for a fee of around £58m.
