iOS 5.1.1 Untethered Jailbreak ‘Absinthe 2.0’
Absinthe 2.0, the latest tool to jailbreak Apple iOS 5.1.1 devices, was released on Friday at the Hack in the Box conference in Amsterdam and is now available, thanks to the "Jailbreak Dream Team."
According to Geek.com, Absinthe 2.0 was created especially for the recently released iOS 5.1.1 and can accommodate virtually all iPhones, iPads and iPods with the new operating system. The only exceptions which Absinthe cannot be used for are the iPad 2,4 (the most recent iPad 2 with the 32nm A5 SoC.) and Apple TV, for which support will be added in the future.
"iOS jailbreaking, or simply jailbreaking, is the process of removing the limitations imposed by Apple on devices running the iOS operating system through use of custom security exploits," writes the creators known as the "Jailbreak Dream Team," which is comprised of the Chronic Dev and the iPhone Dev teams. "Jailbreaking allows users to gain elevated access to the operating system. Consequently it also allows users to download additional applications, extensions and themes that are unavailable through the official Apple App Store."
The latest jailbreak tool marks the first time the third generation iPad could undergo an untethered jailbreak, released on the same day as the Hack in the Box (HTB) conference in Amsterdam. The team unveiled the utility on the final day of the conference in the last few minutes.

"This was certainly one of the most highly anticipated talks we've EVER had at one of our HITB conferences...The excitement from the Dream Team followers and overall Twitter and online buzz has been terrific!", CEO of Hack In The Box Dhillon Andrew Kannabhiran said in a press release. "It was truly an honor to host the Dream Team in their first ever 'real world' meet up and we would like to thank them for taking the time and effort to make the trip over to not only join us at our third European outing, but to help kick-start our celebration of '10 years of HITB awesomeness' with the release of Absinthe 2.0!"
There has been much hype about Absinthe over the past few days after one of the "Jailbreak Dream Team" team members, Twitter user pod2g, tweeted the release date "in a matter of days" for Absinthe 2.0.
Engadget calls Absinthe 2.0 a "so-easy-your-grandma-could- do-it" jailbreak tool for iOS 5.1.1 users.
Absinthe 2.0 is available for download for both Windows and Mac here at Greenpois0n.com along with instructions for how to use the new jailbreak tool.
