Celebrities Who Should Not Play Anastasia Steele in 'Fifty Shades of Grey' [PHOTOS]

E.L. James best-selling erotica novel, "Fifty Shades of Grey", continues to rank number one in the must-read categories of this year.

The numbers of readers getting hooked are equally high as the number of Hollywood celebrities dying to play the lead roles. So web tabloids have done their part on creating potential actresses who could play Anastasia Steele but who among these stars just don't make the cut?

Anastasia Steele is the female protagonist in the novel who is described to have big blue eyes, flawless skin and mahogany hair. Though Anastasia is first mentioned as having vulnerable qualities, the 22-year old progresses throughout as having a "goddess-like" persona who fights for what she believes in.

There are whole lots of women in Hollywood best set out to play the part physically but can they really embody who Anastasia is? Not everyone can and most of the actresses mentioned in a few polls are either too young or just plainly not what fans are looking for. To start off, here are ten actresses who shouldn't get cast as Anastasia Steele.

First is Kristen Stewart. Before any fan back lash, let's take a while to narrow down the reasons why. Given it was based on the "Twilight" series, "Twi"-hard fans are all in frenzy about Kristen Stewart playing the role as Anna. Kristen admitted that she is yet to read the book which basically means the 22-year old actress has no idea what she's getting herself into.

Though going topless and nude for a few of Stewart's' films, the novel has a lot of BDSM-filled scenes that could scare off "Snow White". Casting Kristen Stewart for the hyped role would basically be overkill. With a lot of films in tow, Kristen is better off not taking the role in "Fifty Shades of Grey" and offering it up to another actress who deserves some much-needed spotlight.

Kristen Stewart has been pushed to play the role of Anastasia Steele but with a whole lot of films on her hand, it's best to leave the role to another deserving actress.

Another actress whose name has been mentioned in a few polls would be Miley Cyrus. The age is a great factor given that Miley is only 19 years old. Sure Miley’s’ “Can’t be tamed” persona might be eligible for the S&M themed novel but Lionsgate will have one hell of legal issues with Miley’s father, Billy Ray Cyrus.

Former Disney princess, Selena Gomez, embodied Anastasia Steele in a humorous video for Funny or Die. Before the video even became viral, fans of Gomez had already wanted the 19-year old star to try out for the role as Anastasia Steele. Selena may have no doubt shed her innocent image in her newest flick, “Spring Breakers”, but romping in a bikini does not warrant a spot to play Anastasia Steele onscreen.

Lindsay Lohan’s name has been mentioned a few times. Judging from Lohan’s’ Playboy shoot, the actress would be very much comfortable in the novels’ S&M scenes. Yet, the role of Anastasia Steele is far too big for an actress who has gone through so much. Plus, fans of the novel have spoken up on Lohan’s could-be-casting saying it would be a complete mockery of Anastasia.

Elle Fanning may be have the alabaster tone and goddess vibe perfect for Anastasia Steele. However, Elle Fanning is much too young to be playing a 22-year old college student involved in some heavy BDSM with a 27-year old entrepreneur.

Fanning’s’ older sister, Dakota Fanning, may have the acting chops for the role. Judging from Dakota’s risqué film with Stewart, “The Runaways”, sex and the like won’t be too hard to portray. Despite being a bit older than Elle and equally talented as Kristen Stewart, Dakota Fanning is nowhere near Anastasia Steele.

Along the lines of Elle Fanning, Selena Gomez and Miley Cyrus would be Chloe Moretz. Moretz proves to be a talented actress who has gone from horror flicks to comedy films. The blonde beauty is set to star in Stephen King’s’ film adaptation, “Carrie”. While Moretz may have the acting skills for the role as Anastasia, Chloe is still much too young to star in the S&M film adaptation.

“Vampire Diaries’” star, Nina Dobrev has been pushed to play Anastasia Steele by a few of her fans. Even some web tabloids agree that Nina would play the perfect Anastasia. However, if Ian Somerhalder does get cast as Christian Grey then fans would most likely dub the film as a “Vampire Diaries” mix-off.

“Gossip Girl’s’” Blake Lively has also been thrown into the mix. Blake may have the physical qualities of Anna namely the fair skin, slim figure and of average height. Yet, having played a girl stuck in high school and the dramas of it, Blake is an unlikely star to ever get cast as Anastasia Steele.

Emma Stone is the incredibly quirky and lovely actress whom fans have learned to love. Though Stone could portray Anastasia Steele on film, Emma would probably turn the serious S&M film into a comedic one. Stone is best known for her hilarious films that putting her into a BDSM-themed film would wreck her film persona.
