Yvette Wilson, known for her role in "Moesha," died on Thursday after a battle with cancer.

Wilson, 48, who played "Andell Wilkerson" on the popular UPN show, had Stage 4 cervical cancer, according to TMZ. She also suffered from kidney problems.

According to Humor Mill, Wilson could not pay for her mounting health bills and was in need of a kidney transplant, prompting a little help from her friends. Jeffrey Pittle, a friend and cancer survivor, created a website to accept donations toward Wilson's cause, like transportation and medical expenses. Before her death, the website amassed $13,599 of its $25,000 goal.

Earlier this week, Wilson's former co-star, Shar Jackson, tweeted her support.

"Everyone plz (please) send prayer and light to my sister and best friend Yvette Wilson," Jackson wrote on Twitter.

She confirmed Wilson's death on Thursday.

"I wanna thank all my tweeties for their prayers but god has chosen to take my sister Yvette home," Jackson wrote.

Wilson, who was born in Los Angeles in 1964, also had roles in "The Parkers," "House Party 2," "House Party 3" and "Friday,"  alongside actor-rapper Ice Cube. Before starting her acting career in 1992, Wilson studied communications at California's San Jose State University, according to Wikipedia. She made her debut as a stand-up comedian and landed her big break with a role in "Thea" -- a shortlived 1993 sitcom.

News of her death was a hot-trending topic on Friday.
